JHS Colour Box v2 Lovely Saturation [FX w/ Synthesizers #19] Demo

Today I am exploring various synth and percussion elements through the JHS Colour Box v2 for that lovely vintage console saturation. A/B comparison effect on/bypass except the last section, got lost in the moment on that one. Tried my best to mind the levels, but now and then the volume is a bit inconsistent. Some normalization applied to remedy some of that, you understand. The EQ applied some nice touches, really helps pick out some sweet spots here and there. Recorded direct on iPhone via EPM6 mixer via Go:Mixer:Pro-X.

Today a timelapse build: a 104HP Eurorack case from cigar boxes. These are nice Spanish cedar cabinets, not cardboard. First I build a suitable box, install rack rails. Then solder together a bus board and install power supply. Last, putting all the modules inside.

Power Supply | Tiptop uZeus
Bus Board | Synthrotek Noise Filtering Distro
Rails + Nut Strip | Synthrotek 3mm
Screws | After Later 3mm

Sketchy Labs Freak Shift Eurorack Module [Demo #1]

Today I am auditioning the Sketchy Labs Freak Shift module.
The design is specially derived from the Bode Frequency Shifter.
There are literally sweet spots at every turn of the pots on this one.
In this video I'll briefly discuss this module and patch up some wierd sounds.
The focus is on demonstrating a range of evolving sounds of the frequency shifter.
I'll endeavor to make something more musical using the Freak Shift in a future video.
This video is not sponsored or endorsed by the Doc Sketchy.

0:00 Intro and brief discussion of patching
0:54 LFO as Mod input for phaser type sounds
1:24 Using 2 LFOs for Sine/Cosine modulation

Behringer Neutron First Patch [Demo #1]

Today a first patch soundscape/sequence on my new muse,
the Behringer Neutron. Listen that on headphones. No, really.

I haven't come across any compelling demos on the Neutron.
It has great specs, but not much attention was given.
Until I had a chance to play one last weekend at the Dallas Synth Meet.
HOLY SHNITZEL. This thing blew me away.
The analog BBD delay section is one of the nicest.
So responsive, expressive,
...and lovely thick feedback harmonics.
You can ride the feedback right up to pure chaos, then
back away. It will abide your every move.
And every time I tweaked something it got better and better.
I am really looking forward to getting more cutting edge
sound design with this one!

Sequencing: Beatstep Pro
Recorded Direct to Tascam DR-05.
Additional delay using Timefactor Delay.

GSE 4023-VCF Demo #2 Lovely Saturation

Darkwave, deep house, tribal and Carpenter-esque sounds ahead.
Of the filters I'm offering, 4023-VCF has the most lovely saturation to me.
In most cases, when the input slider is above 60% the filter input will start to become overdriven.
Resulting in a warm and fuzzy distortion.
Audio recorded direct to Tascam DR-05.
Some use of the Timefactor Delay and Big Sky Reverb.

Roland RE-20 Space Echo Audio Demo w/ Synthesizers #6

This is my follow-up video demo of the Roland Boss Space Echo RE-20 pedal. Previously I talked at length about what the functions do. This time I give more audio examples w/ various synthesizers, lead sounds, bass, arpeggios, and a drum machine. Included here are Roland System-1, TR-606, and XP-30. As well as an ARP Solina String Ensemble, and a Korg 770. Audio recorded direct from mixer into a Tascam DR-05 recorder, no other effects processing other than the RE-20.
